Default Installed an air horn today

Today I installed a Steibel air horn to replace the whimpy stock horn. Bought it on EBay. Pretty happy with the mod and thought I'd share.

Turns out the horn has a bracket on it that holds the factory nut and allows you to get the nut close to the rubber isolater, the slip on the horn and rotate the horn until it's really tight.

I'm thinking I may put some locktite on it just to be safe.

It doesn't look bad to me. Hardly noticeable. Here is a before and after shot.

It also came with a relay, but I figured the factory horn must have a relay on it...so I tried it using the factory wires and works fine.

Overall about a 3 minute install.

I will say, it's very loud, easily twice as loud as the factory horns. Between this and my loud pipes I hope to get people's attention when I want to.

I tested it at 102 DB on my iPhone sound meter. Plenty loud.

Also installed speed bleeders and bled the brakes, front lever is a lot better, I had a bit of air in there. I do love speed bleeders, use them on my Vette as well. Not much to take a picture of with that mod however.

That's awesome! I turned it up and damn near blew up my computer speakers. Can definitely hear it over the loud pipes!

Good deal. I bought one of the wolo bad boy air horns from a parts house the other day. I havn't actually installed it yet, but I hooked it up the wires from the stock horn. It was pretty loud, however, I took a couple of pieces of 14 gauge wire and wired it direct to the battery and good grief, what a difference. Probably twice as loud. I think I'm gonna wire it through the relay. Using the existing wires, there was a slight delay, but wiring it direct, it was an instant blast.

When I was doing a before and after with the bike shut off, it wasn't too loud, but as soon as I mounted it and started the bike, it is LOUD.

I probably will run the relay one of these days. I have to take the seat off which is a bit of a pain on my bike. Well if you can call 6 bolts a pain, I guess.

So far I'm very pleased with the mod.
