Default Crankcase breather issue

I have a 1985 Tour Glide with an 80 inch Evo. Parked it for the winter. When I went to start it up a little bit of oil blew out of the crankcase breather. Is this a big issue? What to do next is a mystery to me.

Predictable for bikes like yours to do after being parked for a period of time.

Cure? Ride 'er!

Totally normal for an Evo thats been sitting a month or more. Oil drains past the check ball valve and into the cam case....It then gets blown out the breather on startup. I used to see about 1/2 to 1 cup at times.

If my bike sits for more than a month then i will put the end of the breather hose into an empty coke bottle/or can to collect the over flow.

Nuthin... My Pan will Puke a Quart or more. The Evo Sporster has an empty oil tank but the other BT's don't puke any.

Just the nature of (some of) the Beasts.

Exactly what Graemer said. On the Pan forum you can "Burnish" the seat but some will and some won't.

Put a clean pan under the hose to catch the oil. Then pour it back in the bike. My friend used to do that and he would flip out thinking he blew the motor the first time it happened. It seemed at least on his bike, the more he rode it , the less it happened.,,

A few years ago when I bought my 1989 FLHS it had been infrequently ridden for the previous few years, and not at all for about 1 -1 1/2 years. When going through the initial start up it puked it's guts out. When it slowed down the oil went back into the tank and after a short while of running it daily it stopped.

Regular oil changes since that incident, and it had been ridden every few weeks since without a single drop spilled. But this winter it sat for about 6 weeks straight and when I started it I took the precaution of putting a pan under it.

Not one drop. Just needed regular use.

Keep changing the oil on a regular basis and ride it, might not be an issue.
