Or the regulator is some how loose at a connector.
Riding without repair could damage electrical components.
You have an over voltage condition.
With out further available information it would seem that the voltage regulator could be a possibility.
Are you familiar with Ronnie's Harley Davidson?
They have a parts finder fiche thing that allows you to "see" the part.
Click motorcycle, then click model information.
you are looking at alternator and voltage regulator section.
Then look at voltage regulator.
Should have no cutting, no splicing and only about two bolts to access/remove it.
No primary removal.
BUT as described by others, NEVER buy parts before confirming that the electrical system has been checked...step by step...buying a part without checking might not resolve the problem or only be part of a problem...for example you buy the part and new part fails because you failed to noticed the chaffed wire that was grounding the connector or you failed to notice that the connector was loose to begin with so the problem repeats.
Have you checked the AC..yes AC voltage not DC voltage at the stator plug ?
