New EVO owner
Greetings all,
This is my newbee thread to introduce myself to the EVO forum. I picked up a 1993 Heritage Softail on Saturday (May 3rd) from the original owner. I knew as soon as I pulled into his driveway that I was going to buy his bike. He was the original owner and the bike had just over 15K miles on it. He loved this bike and took great care of her.
He warned me to let it warm up before riding as the EVO stock gaskets are paper and prone to failure (weep, seep, leak). He showed me all the functions (lights, directionals, hazards) of the bike as well as showing me the bags, which were full of rolled up newspaper). He explained the papers help the bags keep their shape.
He let me sit on it but not ride it. He took it out and I followed as it was still his bike and no one rode his baby. I picked up this sweet EVO for $5K! I think I got a great buy. Here are some pics of the bike. Any and all advice will be appreciated as I am sure there are some maintenance/replacement items I need to address.
I look forward to interacting with you and look forward to your advice as I have alot of mechanical intent, but very little mechanical ability!
