Is This Normal?
Hello- first time Evo owner this week. Just brought home a 1988 FLHS. Put a new AGM battery in (fully charged), went for a 10 mile ride, then plugged in the trickle charger when I got home. It's been 2 1/2 hours now and the battery is still charging (yellow light). Do I have a problem with my charging system or is it normal that the battery would take this long to charge up after a short ride? Would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks. -bob
Hey Bob, welcome to the Forum! Trickle chargers have virtually no amperage so if your battery needs any charge at all, it's going to take a while. This may sound like a stupid question, but how do know your battery was fully charged? New out of the box, they usualy still need a charging before they are full.
Oh, and btw, don't forget to show us your ride!

Have you checked the voltage on your battery? Before and after a ride? As is being stated, it's probably not really fully charged.

Thanks All - I put the new battery on a trickle charge when I first got it and then charged it until the light was green before I put it in the bike, so I'm assuming it was fully charged when I went for my 10 mile ride. I'll post some pics of the bike soon. I paid $6,500 for it. It looks to be in good condition. Speedo says 16,200 miles, but who knows for sure? -bob

I was ready to. After talking around, I was LOW at $5200. I was talking to a guy at the park that just got an '01 FLH. He was looking for a full dresser. I told him $6k, but wasn't sure if that was too much. He said Nope, I should get $6k out of it. But, I've decided to hold off on selling, I just can't do it!
Yeah, I understand, you spend so much time on it, it's hard to let it go; and these old EVO's are getting tough to find. If you decide to sell again, shoot me a PM. I may know someone interested, if he's still looking then.
