I never use a battery tender or tickle charger, bike charges the battery and if it doesn't then there is something that needs fixing. Check the bike is charging correctly and then just ride it.
Yeah, I understand, you spend so much time on it, it's hard to let it go; and these old EVO's are getting tough to find. If you decide to sell again, shoot me a PM. I may know someone interested, if he's still looking then.
Yea, she's all I've got really. I would be really bummed if it was gone. I'm putting up with the hip problem, and my truck is still running, so I see no need to sell right now. I'll let you know if I change my mind again....
I say there probably nothing wrong with your battery it the way the trickle charger are set up. Mine with show solid red for at least 1 hr before going green (not quite sure don't sir and watch it) like stated above just use multimeter to verify no fault found. And welcome and ill state like the other this post is useless with out pics lol

I second this. If it doesn't stay charged while riding, how can I even trust it.
Hello All - Happy 4th. Thanks for the advice. I've finally resolved the issue. The original stator was putting out sufficient amps (20) but none of it was getting back to the battery. I put in the 32 amp upgrade kit (includes stator, stator rotor, and voltage regulator). Works fine now - measuring 14.4 volts at the battery with the engine running at 2000 rpm. As requested, posting a pic...

I am with Spanners. Maybe we are just old school but I have never had a tender or a trickle charger on any of mine. My last $80.00 Adventure Power battery lasted 7 years on my 99 FXSTC. Since I do not have a charge light in mine I do check my battery with a VOM before a long ride. Usually, if it starts normally it is good to go.
