Not the sea lion type. Doing the left side of the 92' Dyna. I have a few seals to replace and was wondering what type of fluid or compound everyone was putting on them to keep them in place.
in a shop we see things that have been done by complete morons - and at times we have to do things out of the norm - so yes to the question about a sealant on a seal - but only when a chisel was used to remove the old one -
you have to be quick and have strong hands to install the seal using yamabond around the seal and on its face not on the lip to lock it in all the way around - have lacquer thinner at the ready - put the trans race with the quad seal in the main seal and slide all the way on then push the main seal in and smear it around --
test the amount of time you have to do the job with rubber gloves first and have your ducks in a rowe when you start < tip of the the day
Dont understand the question Cal need to know what you are trying to do .
When I pulled the primary the seals had something brushed on them (a fluid of some type). The jackshaft seal and primary bearing had maybe loctite 609 or something. The main primary oil seal had a grey color liquid or compound on and around it. Mating surfaces and bolts had clear silicone as well as the primary to engine o-ring. I just wanted to know if this was needed or not on this bike. I have never seen this before and have never used anything on seals but it is always best to ask you guys and heed the advice.

on metal to metal seals use green Loctite 609. on metal to rubber use yamabond grey case glue. and on your inner primary use clear silicone around your bolts and bottom half of o-ring. you don't need anything on the front two motor bolts.
Thanks D. It appears that is what was used in the past.
Use light oil to help seat in oil seals in bores . If the manual dosent say to use anything for any else , dont do that .!
Clean off any risidual stuff a p.o. used and continue as per. manual .
