After reading in another thread on this forum that someone had finally found the source of his evo shake I examined my primary and some of its components. I found a very slight play in ring gear but absolutely no playvin clutch hub. I took up slack in chain and all seems well. Some piece of mind developed and I closed her up.

I found a very slight play in ring gear but absolutely no playvin clutch hub
the clutch hub is fixed to the transmissions mainshaft with a nut and can not move unless installed incorrectly
the outer shell ( ring gear ) is held in place with a ball bearing Via a snap ring - play can develop in the ball bearing and OR the snap ring groove - play = worn out bearing
adjusting the chain tighter than normal to eliminate play -- if thats what you have done will wreck the teeth on the back of the ring gear ( starter gear will hit it at an angle instead of straight on ) and cut deeep grooves in the plastic adjustment shoe
little known item - the primary chain gets tighter as the assembly gets hot and expands after 45 min of driving

Are your rivets loose? I think my bearing is loose I have play in mine. Does yours move like this?
Mine does not move like yours and the rivets are tight however I took clutch apart and with the hub still on tranny shaft via nut the inner hub when rotated by hand moves in and out. i will post video in a day or two travelling now but i have video but cant post on mobil3 site any videos or I dont know how.
groove marks on hub outer splines made by friction disk tamngs
I also noticed 1/16" deep tang grooves on outer hub splines. it looks like a total replacement for clutch hub will be necessary unless i can file them down easily.
