Default Engine modification questions

I finally got the bike through Japanese inspection and she is running good. I want to thank all of you who helped and supported me through some of my idiotic questions and others who told me how to do certain things. I have now cleaned up all of my mess and have inventoried my excess parts. I have a new Delkron (bottom breather) bottom end, Andrews EV 13 cam, new lifters and push rods, gaskets and other misc. parts. I have found an individual that has a new set of Axtell cylinders with a new set of 10.5:1 Wiseco pistons and a new set of EVO heads. I am not even going to say the price as it is unbelievably cheap. I think I will need a different cam and possibly some head work to make this set up work. I know I have a new motor in my bike now, but for a few hundred extra I can have a spare too. What are your opinions or ideas on this set up. Thanks in advance

Nothing wrong with your set up.....10.5:1 is a bit large for modern gas and if those other parts are so very cheap then grab them before someone else does!

The Delkron case is 3 5/8 bore with a 4.5 inch stroke. I bought them while waiting for a machining estimate for my original cases. I thought it was going to be too expensive for mine, but ended up getting my bottom end rebuilt. It was also going to be a PITA to get the registration done with a different VIN on the cases.

As Spanner said those 10.5-1 pistons are going to invite Pinging. Staying just under or at 10-1 would be easier to tune out the ping.

you should not be inviting people to run 10 to 1 pistons - in my shop i have replaced enough 10 and more pistons to get 200 bucks in scrap metal alloy a few weeks back since the first of the year, for me and the crew at my shop they do not work

what you do to yours is your thing

the only way is to add an additive to the fuel so the back side of the engines combustion after ( 14* ATDC ) the left over fuel is being used up by the additive < the key to this-- Then and only then will you be able to run more compression

and no its proprietary what we use

So John, you are saying they had Pinging and did nothing about it to the point of melting pistons? There are a lot of 10-1 engines out there that are doing just fine right?
Actually I was trying to steer the OP away from going 10-1 or larger.
My 10-1 Cr shows no sign of pinging now that it is tuned properly even in this 90*+ heat. I also checked my spark plugs and there is no dark speckles on the insulator, even under magnification, a great indicator for pinging.

i am not tying to get into a thing with you about it but you own one bike

in a shop we address this almost every day and since 1965 i have built a couple of motors and seen the changes that have come about with the fuel we now use verses the days of 100 leaded gas

if yours works - well thats great - the buying public usually dont want to be on the razors edge when it comes to the engine they drive every day
