Default 1991 fxlr.

Hi, I own a 1991 Fxlr which has been laid up for a while, I decided to get it running again but I accidentally dropped one of the exhausts bolts on the top of the engine near the front belt pulley, when I tried to pick it up if fell through a gap on top the pulley and I cannot locate it. It spun the rear wheel and so the front pulley move but it did not sound as though it has hitting the bolt.
Do I need to strip the side of the engine to try and find it?
The bike has a kelvar dry clutch with belt drive so I'm not sure if you remove it the same as the stock clutch.
I was hoping the bolt might fall out on its own.
Thanks dave.

Dangle a magnet down there and pull it out.

start it up and let the engine shake like they do cold and move the bike back and forth while on it moving it around left to right front to back kind of thing it will fall out

doing it on a floor that does not have a complete selection of bolts on it already helps

Dave, 1990 Glide here, owned from new. There is a recess at the rear of the gearbox casing where stuff gathers. I recently partly stripped my bike and found several items, including washers etc. Your bolt is probably quite safe and will stay there unless you follow Spanners' advice with a magnet. Follow the mounting for the oil filter housing, it's above that.
