im with you valve float is a good rev limiter. if the motor comes apart it wasn't built right. so its time to do it again

Fifteen years ago I would have agreed with both you and Dr. Hess. But at my present age, I don't need all that excitement.

I rode home tonight from work at 75 mph. No wind to speak of, temp in the mid to high 60's. That was about as fast as I want to push my boxcar through the air (93 FLHS).

But all kidding aside, it was another one of those commutes, that you really just wanted to blow past the destination. And keep riding....

I'm with Hackd. A mid 60's evening would be nice.

Man ya'll are easy on your motors. I lost a speedo once on the way to Sturgis. I just set the tach at 4100-4300 in 5th gear and left it there, basically for 1K miles. On the way back, I kinda realized why I was passing everyone.
I bet. Did that on a trip to Ohio. Kept her at 3000 rpm and was passing everybody, got it fixed and 3000 rpm is 80 mph on mine.

If I didn't ride mine to work, it wouldn't get ridden. My present work schedule is crap (rotating days off, rotating shifts, 6-7 day weeks, weekends, holidays, etc...). When my 'weekend' finally rolls around, there are number of other things that need to be done, so the thought of taking a day long ride isn't even a consideration.

My commute is a bit less than 18 miles each way. That takes a bit over a gallon of gasoline each way in my Blazer @ 17 mpg. Or less than a gallon BOTH ways on my FLHS @ 40 mpg. Even running premium in the Harley, that's saving me 50+% on my monthly gasoline expense.

And I'm in the wind.
