So I recently (1100 miles ago) rebuilt the top end and decided to add a kick start kit to my 98 Heritage. I have it timed and reset the S&S super E carb so that it runs great...but I can't kick it to save my life. I have the stock timing module. any suggestions? any experience?
after market ignitions have a kick or electric start mode - stock ignitions incorporate a delay in turning the ignition on ( usually 2 revolutions ) so the starter has a start point and not up against the timing in the endless stop anyplace of an engine
ultima ignition works very well with kick start bikes
Custom Chrome states the stock EVO ignition module will work. It was my understanding that it would work with that year ignition and the delay started with the twin cams. I guess I'll start looking for a new ignition module.

your right stock ign has 2 dead revs. I think it started in 89 or 90
the ultima/dyna can fix this but you need a computer and cable to program the dead revs to zero. the default on ultima is 3 dead rev's there is no dip switch for it
I think the HI-4 ign has the switch so you don't need a computer
I recommend the Dyna S. I used that when my evo was kick only for four years and now it is on my softail with electric start just the same. Great product

in the past 10 years every Ultima ignition i have installed on an evo shovel sporty anything has started in the electric start mode before one 1/2 of one revolution can be accomplished

no ignition i have ever used starts faster
Isn't Ultima just a rebranded Dynateck?
Or are there differences?

dynatek doesn't make them either they are made in china by Altadox corp. that's what I found when I opened one up. and both ultima and dynotek are the same
