The step actually screws in. Ill take a pic of my original 93 front fork tomorrow.

You are correct...so if the distance is the same, looks like you are only a tap or thread insert away from making that work.

yeah I bid on that one last time he posted the auction. I was the only one and the reserve wasn't met. Offered him 1500 with out the risers and brake caliper since he said hed take 1800 but never got a response.
