I purchased a 90 flt and found broken conductors inside apperantly good looking wires.
Try turning key on and turn bars left and right to look for opens in the harness.
If something shows up , do a pull test on the wires in the harness at the harness pivot point .

Sorry machinehed your post slipped past me. I will be pulling the bike out of storage this weekend and will be following through with all the suggestions.

Ya it was put away. I had bought it for my son to ride for when he graduates this year from HVAC course. Not like I was off the road I had my 89 flht.

So far this is what I have found.

- ignition switch connected to harness I get 12 volts at switch where ignition switch connects to harness and both sides of main circuit, breaker ignition turned to off position

- ignition switch connected to harness I get 0 volts at switch red wire where ignition switch connects to harness and both sides of main circuit breaker, ignition turned on position

Its like its grounding when I turn ignition key to On position

- checked ignition switch in with ohms and off on on appears correct.
Suggestions?
Thanks

Check your ground wire, from the battery negative to wherever it goes, probably bottom of the motor or trans area. Look closely, take apart, clean, grease, put back together the battery cable at the battery and the other end.

Ok will do Dr Hess.

I also just tried the ignition switch off my 2002 superglide and same results and the switch off my 1997 superglide on the 2002 superglide and it worked so eliminates faulty switch.

Unfortunately when I pulled the nut off the starter to put loose wire back on the washer and nut fell under the starter to know where's ville.

Only if he found (or replaced) the nut that holds it to the starter.
