Hi my name is brandon and im a new member here. I ride a 1985 fxrp . Ive been seeing these diy projects with 1980s corvette shocks on baggers for there air ride systems and i am wondering if that would work on mine? Is there any other type of air shock if that will not work that wont break the bank?
Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. Was in Arizona for a few days only earlier this month!
As for shocks, I can't imagine car shocks being very successful on a bike. If you want air shocks there are bike-specific ones available, such as for the Touring range of Harleys, which can be bought secondhand on Ebay, however decent spring shocks are likely to give better results. SHocks are a very popular subject throughout HDF, regardless of model, and there are stacks of discussions about them. Could be worth getting a long drink and taking a look around!
I would think they would work on an FXR...everyone that has done it says they ride very well...only problem on an FXR is they are not covered by bags and they are kinda ugly.
Ok thank you ive seen it done on touring models i believe that is one of the videos i seen but my swing arm has a housing that looks a little too narrow im just gonna keep doing some research oh and i plan on putting bags on my buddy has the same bike he put street glude bags on it had to do a little customizing for the mounts his bike is in one of my pics
