Default Tranny help asap!!!!

Hello, I'm new to the page and I currently own a BEAUTIFUL 1984 Harley electra glide classic with the EVO... I was wondering if anyone could tell me what tranny is compatible with this year and since it's chain driven how hard is it to convert the tranny to a chain sprocket instead of a belt sprocket... Or vise versa a complete belt conversion and what size sprockets for the belt would I need to get the best fuel mileage and low Rpms at highway speeds... All and any help would be appreciated and if anyone knows of a great motorcycle junk yard I could find a good used low mileage tranny at that would be awesome to... Thank u!

I think it's just buy different sprockets & a chain or belt which ever way you going to swap , Baker drive, trans is a member here & they do second to non trans , or just google motorcycle salvage & a huge list will pop up

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. It naturally follows that ANY Evo is beautiful! Tell us more, like why you want a trans. That year there was a mid-season change of trans, but how you identify which one you have I will leave to others to identify. We need to clarify that to give you a helpful answer.

around 40 or 45 to a gallon is all your going to get with the $hit gas we now have as america sells all its hi quality fuel to everyone else but anericans get the bottom of the barrel for hi prices - its the way its done

What tranny is compatible?

Does it not already have a transmission?

It is not a simple matter to convert to belt drive using OEM components.

The belt drive configuration uses a different mainshaft and clutch, can`t remember if the inner primary cover is the same.

I wish one of those era bikes would show up around my neck of the woods for sale....

Stock front and rear belt pulleys for your bike are 32/70, which are fine, neither too tall nor too short. Fuel consumption is in your right hand! To lower rpms is done in the primary, by changing the compensator, or staying with a chain and swapping sprockets.
