Will the ultima pulley insert interchange with a BDL part?

putting red Loctite on the clutch and motor splines is a trick I learned from an old timer its suppose to minimize spline wear on open belts if you look at bdl instructions they now tell you to do this. so there might be something to it. im not sure if it really works or not never had a problem with this until now

IMO with red on the splines in theory could help keep moisture out and prevent corrosion.

If I'm thinking correctly, the splines on the shaft where the pulley slides on? When I done my, they said put wheel bearing grease in there, and I did, and it was quieter, but guess what, the chit gets hot and now has started slinging the chit EVERYWHERE!! they didn't mention all the business! Everytime I ride it, I have to wipe it down because the grease has slung all over the back of the bike! Going to take it apart and clean whats left of the chit outa there!!

I just had to try running a belt-drive once.....only once. I learned my lesson. We all should know that MOCO tried it years ago and failed miserably. I think that if it was a way for Harley and Gates to figure this out and make one that would last...they would have figured it out a long time ago, but they never did so we're still stuck with the chain-drive. The short time that I could keep mine together was a dream. Smooth shifting and quite running....while it ran.

I realize the subject here concerns "sporting purposes" and not necessarily durability/longevity purposes. The only experience I had was with a BDL unit, which was a POS.

sorry to hear you had bad luck with it. my bdl drive on the shovel has only failed me one time and that was a broken belt. out of all the belt drives ive used over the years this is the only one that is giving me problems.
