How to cut new threads in crankcase?

I had no intention on doing that because of the different vacuums and pressures in an engine.

That was actually just BSing. Didn't think that would be taken seriously.

Anyway, try plumbing some air to the oil tank vent fitting on the case, see if that'll blow out of the timing plug hole.

I agree.

Also agree with the grease idea, have done it many times on experimental aircraft engines (which sometimes could take months to disassemble).

After sealing the plug with permatex gasket seal I went for a 200 mile ride thru the mountains Saturday without even a weepage. Thanks for all the good advice, jokingly or not.

Hey, I had one of those.. It was in fact, trouble free. It was almost like a Bic lighter. Run the tank dry, throw it away.
