I recently change to the BC thunder monster baffles and tried to adjust the air mixture to get rid of the low rpm hesitation. first let me say that it had the same problem with stock baffles ( V&H big shot standards ). I warmed it up for about 5 mins and turned the mixture screw in until it started to choke out and then began to back it off until it ran smooth. I could not seem to find a "smooth" idle. It still has a lot of hisitation on lower rpm. Seems to run fine when you are cruising at 45mph and up. If you are riding slower than that it runs noticably rougher. I bought the bike used, it is a 94 fatboy and have no idea if they rejetted when they changed pipes and went to K&N filter. I noticed that V&H has a jet kit recommended for the stage 1 upgrade. Think this would help or does it sound like something else? Anyone have a carb they want to sell Any help or ideas would be great.
Check out HQ and read through the Carb area www.head-quarters.com Doug as a jet kit for the stock C/V carb that is Bad ***. With his jet kit and proper adjustments he say's it's better then Mikuni or S&S. I just swaped out my S&S super E for a C/V with the HQ jet kit, it goes on the Dyno next week for a fine tune so I will see first hand if it works better or not.

5 minutes does not cut it. Take for a good ride to make sure your up to operating temp. Use the throttle lock and make the engine run about 1300 rpm. Then start adjusting the air screw. Once you have it set you can release the throttle lock and fine tune the screw on the road.
Just wanted to let you know that I have fixed the problem. Apparently the person I bought the bike from did not change either jets when they did the stage 1 upgrade. The pilot was seized and I had a heck of a time getting it out. It was the stock 42. Went with a 45. Local Hd dealer only carries 45 and 48. It idles much better and no hesitation on the throttle. Took care of 90% of the popping also. Should I try anothersize bigger on the pilot? It still has the 175 main jet. Is it ok to leave it since I have good performance on the top end?? Thanks for all the input. Feels really good to get to know my bike.
