Anyone here ever have the check engine light come on during a long trip and then go off, not coming on again? Was on my way home from the York open house this afternoon when I noticed the Check Engine Light come on a couple of times, only for a second or two and then go off. Tried to duplicate the circumstances again, and was not successful. Never happened before. This was at the end of a 240+ mile ride back to NY, today was not particulary hot and I was getting off the Interstate ramp onto a side road when I first noticed it. No other lights on, full of gas, oil pressure okay, ran like it always has, did not break up, fart back, pop or do anything out of the ordinary. I'm wondering if I could have a short somewhere? Can't seem to find where it threw out any error codes either.
Just a puzzle to me. Any help would be appreciated.
i have a night train that has 1500 miles. it has not been on the road for over a year. I started it up and now the engine light is on. it will run but only at hlf choke and the engine light stays on. please help with some suggestions of what might be wrong???
That light tells you that you have a code stored. You didn't say what bike or year so go here and down to the last two topics at the btttom and choose your year for how to diagnose your problem
Sorry for the lack of information TCSTD, when I posted the problem, I was in a hurry. Anyway, the bike is a 2004 FXD, carbed model, approx. 7000 miles. I checked the diagnosic readout tonight and was given a single error code. Following the directions in the link you posted, the readout returned error code PO563 for Battery Voltage High Carb. Checking it again it turned out to be a historic code and has not reoccurred.
Armed with that knowledge, any idea what could have caused it or should I just chalk it up to "one of those things" since it has not reoccured. Any suggestions concerning anything else to look for or at would be helpful.
