Default Fp3

After flashing the ECM with a new map and doing the Auto Tune, can the FP3 be removed from the bike?

My Dealer is telling me it has to stay plugged in and sometimes they fail. That wasn't my understanding from the videos I saw on YouTube.

It can be removed and stored for future use. I left mine in to use the gauges.

Are all dealers as FOS as the OP's dealer? I'm beginning to think they are.

You can remove it once you are done. I'd leave it on and tuck it away. It's useful for gauges and troubleshooting should you need it.

Has anyone tucked it away in the bags? Not looking to mount on my handlebars, maybe in the initial set up and run but would rather keep it plugged in for awhile to monitor but not on the bars.

You wouldn't mount it on the handlebars, there's nothing to see really. On your SGS it would plug in under the left side cover on the bike. You communicate with it via a smart phone or a tablet. I've got a handlebar mount for my phone so that I can monitor different parameters while the bike is running and/or I'm riding.

Bear in mind anyone with a smartphone can play tricks on you if bike happens to be on with tuner connected. I've installed several on customers bikes and advise disconnect if not doing auto tune or monitoring functions.

Seriously doubt that would ever happen.
