I have a 91 Electra Glide the header is cracked in 2 spots am I wasting my time to weld them or does it hold up? Is this common?

The metal has gotten pretty hot in those areas....I have welded them back up only for the crack to appear beside the weld. Give it you best shot.

Drill a small hole in each end of the crack to prevent propogation ebyond the weld. Doesn't awlays work, but usually does.
If that's a weak area as he says, drill a hole in each end of the crack to keep it from spreading. Then fabricate and weld a patch over the whole area.
