While we're on the topic of 2-into-1's, are any of these systems a single piece? More specifically, if I weld my own will a one-piece fit in correctly or do the pipes need to be able to separate?

I suspect it is very difficult to get a one-piece system to be exactly right. Having a degree of flexibility at each of the sections enables the fit to be adjusted just so. I'm not sure they need to separate, but it is a useful feature. I've owned Harleys for over 40 years and never found the way they build their systems to be a problem.

Since I don't Dyno the bikes to know who does what and where, I will give my .02. I choose TH due to pure love of the sound. I know #'s are important to many people, however I have a **** eating grin every time I start my bike up. I personally don't like the sound of the D&D's.
Again, just my .02. Either way you will enjoy great performance.

The flexibility of a 2 or 3 piece 2-1 pipe is easier to get proper alignment to the head port.

I Put Python 2-1 on my 96 FB due to the side car I needed to move exhaust away and wanted more room for mounts. Even with the quiet baffle it is to loud and IMO sounds like **** compared the exhaust it had. A 1340 EVO is what it is for power. Without cam and head work a 2-1 exhaust will make little to no difference IMO.

What is the difference between these two systems? One has a bigger muffler than the other? What size cores? Is one louder than the other? One better suited to bigger builds than the other? Stepped stainless steel headpipes, nice. How thick is the stainless?

We could go into quite a bit of detail on both of these systems, but to answer your questions in the most simplified way possible:

-The difference between the Ness Comp and the Performer pipe is mostly appearance. Aside from the tip style, the Ness is slightly longer, and uses a 1/2" wider tapered muffler. This larger muffler results in the Performer being just a bit louder. Both give a smooth, deep tone, but the Ness is rich and refined, while the Performer has more of a rumble with some punch in the middle.

-In addition to using a stepped head pipe, we also use a 3-stepped core for additional torque gains and fine tuning the sound. The widest core section in the Performer is 3.5", Ness pipe uses 4".

-The head pipe thickness goes from 1.75" to 2" to 2.25" on both systems.

-The power gains are very similar between the two. The deciding factor will most likely be left up to the look and sound that you prefer best.

If you have any other questions about either pipe, feel free to PM us any time!
