I just purchased a used 2006 Superglide a week ago. It backfires quite a bit, more so when it warms up. I have it at dealer for 1000 mile service and asked them to look into the backfiring. I have ordered the quiet baffles a nd want to see whether I like the regular or quiets better. They called today and told me that the bike was running good and it only backfired a couple times. They also said that they don't want to mess with the PC III until I decide what baffles I want. Since I dropped it off, Monday, for this work, I have found a shop that will Dyno tune it. I have an appt there in 2 weeks.
My questions are:
1) Do I need to decide which baffles I want before I have it Dyno tuned? Or does it not make any difference?
2) Will it hurt to ride it some until I get it Dyno tuned in 2 weeks?
Question #1 yes you need to install the baffle befroe it's tuned. Question #2 no one can tell you if it's ok to ride it till it's tuned...we don't know where your AFR is now and buy you saying the dealer that has it now is trying to get decel popping out by changing the baffle show me he hasn't got a clue what he's doing.
Good Luck
Thanks. I will not get it dyno'd until I get the quiet baffles and see which ones I prefer. I will see what it is like when I get it back from dealer, hopefully today. If better, I will ride some, if not, I will not ride until dyno'd.
