Occasional small pop after acceleration on 07 fatboy with the bss staggered, fuel pack and air cleaner not a loud crisp pop and you have to roll off the throttle completely to get the pop. really doesnt bother me but should I be worried about rich/lean condition? thanks all help is appreciated
I have an '03 Fatboy with Big Shot Longs. I don't know if this is related to your problem in anyway or not but I had a problem with decel popping myself. It started with just an intermittent pop. Itactually sounded pretty cool. It then got more and more intense so I took it in to have it looked at. The problem turned out to be thatthe flange on my front pipe came unwelded.
The wrench I took it to told me that this was a somewhat common problem with V&H pipes. He welded it back on and I've had no problems since. This was about a year ago.
Like I said, this might not have anything to do with your problem but I thought I'd let you know about my experience just in case.
AA loud pop like a fire cracker is a lean pop...add fuel at '0'% throttle and it goes away. Blubbering is a rich condition, take fuel away at '0' % throttle and it will go away. The only time you can't get popping out is with a bad engine package.....you can't tune a poor package.
Timing changes in the 0 % and 2% throttle position are necassary some times to remove popping that fuel just won't get out..
