PUSHROD HELP!!
HELLO ALL YOU HARLEY BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
I GOT A PROBLEM. I HAVE A 1978 LOWRIDER FX 1200 SHOVELHEAD.
I WAS REPLACING MY PUSHROD SEALS AND I THINK I MAY HAVE MIX UP THE REAR ONES
AND I DONT WANT TO PUT THE WRONG ROD IN THE WRONG PLACE.
I DO KNOW THAT THE FRONT EXHAUST ROD IS AJUSTED ABOUT A QUARTER OF AN INCH LONGER
THAN THE INTAKE ROD. THE REAR RODS ARE AJUSTED THE SAME AS THE FRONT ARE.
SO THAT LEAVES ME WITH TWO RODS ONE A QUARTER INCH LONGER THAN THE OTHER.
TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT. ARE THE REAR RODS SET UP THE SAME WAY? INTAKE IS SHORTER THAN THE EXHAUST? PLEASE HELP ME WITH SOME INPUT ON THIS
THANKS
KEEP RIDIN
I take it you have a solid conversion kit installed since you have different length rods. The frt exhaust is the longest rod you will have, the shortest will go into the rear intake. If you have a kit that all the rods are different lengths then the rear exhaust takes the second longest rod and that only leaves one left which goes into the frt intake.
Remember to adjust the rods while the lifter is at the lowest position (on the heal of the cam).
Good luck
