Default Cheater true duals

OK, I saw this kit on ebay and it got the wheels turning. This guy was selling a kit to block off the splitter pipe to force exhaust into the right side but its not for the O2 bunged style. Sooo.... being the type to not pay for something I can do myself I took the heat shields off and started looking.

What I wound up doing is I sliced the pipe halfway through down past the O2 sensor. I then made a round piece to slip inside the diameter of the pipe and then drilled a 1/2" hole in it. I then slid the insert into the pipe and welded the cut back up.

The bike feels the same as far as power. It is however much smoother running and the sound level actually dropped. I attribute this to it now using both silencers. next I plan to splice in a 90 at the transition to smooth out the bend and relocate the O2 bung into the right side pipe downstream of the new 90.

Yes, most of you are thinking why didnt I just buy a true dual kit and be done with it. My answer to that is; I like the stock look of the second pipe and didnt want to hobble it up visually with ceramic coated (fullsac) parts and wasnt going to spend $600+ for a full system when I already have the Rush's.

cut a chunk out of the rear pipe that goes to the right and plug both ends with chevrolet freeze plug. under $2. heat shield covers the missing piece. the kit on eBay for $125 is a rip.

i have power commander now but i ran the cut system for a couple of years before i got gear drive cams and PCIII. the heat shield covers your cut work. the exhaust will compress in the cut areas upon startup so the exhaust will exit smoothly.
