This may have already been posted, and if it has then I apologize. I am going to upgrade to a Heritage Softail in about a year and would like to buy a used Twin Cam bike. I read that Harley originally had bearings that were prone to failure and have since upgraded to better bearings. Does anyone know what model year the upgrade was done so I don't buy a bike with the older bearings?
Thank you.

I believe it was late 99 early 2000 models that they had the cam bearings problem. There was a recall on them so they should of all been replaced by now. I wouldn't worry even if it was a 99 or 2000 model I'm sure they were replaced. Good luck on finding your softail.
Thanks for the info, I know the 99 models were evo motors but I did not know how early HD fixed the cam bearing problem with the twin cams. This info will help me when looking for a heritage. Thanks.
I think you are mistaken, I own a 99' and have been told by several sources that there was no recall.Aparently HD would fix it if it failed within five years or 80 thousand kilometers. If there was a recall I'd really like to hear about it.
