I have a 2016 FLHR with a Kury Crusher head pipe. The last couple of times I've been out riding I hear a buzzing noise,so I was checking around the bike and notice the heat shield coming from the front pipe was loose and hitting the powercell heat shield.I got my service manuel out,and seen the worm clamps that hold the shield on.I read one thread about a buzzing noise and they found out it was a broken shield.
Before I take the shield off my question is does the worm clamp thread through some slots on the shield?I did tighten the clamps all were tight, and I loosen and moved the bottom clamp around where it hitting the powercell shield and retighted it.Does this sound like a broken shield?I doubt they sell just the front shield.
Is there a easy fix that someone has done before?
Yes, the clamp goes through a slot in the heat shield, you have to unscrew it all the way to take them off. A little lube will make your life easier!
im not sure about your particular pipes but on my old twin cam I was able to mix and match brands, with great success. I ended up with python shields on rhinehart pipes.
The bracket was broken on the inside of the shield.I found out that Vance & Hines makes Kury exhausts.
I was able to order a new shield from Vance & Hines.
