Vance and Hines Big Radius - Sportster

Does anybody know why Vance and Hines big radius pipes only fit on sportsters 2014-up? I really want to put a set on my 2007 Nightster but each site says they don't fit my bike, and I just want to know why? Is it just because they're made for the bigger O2 port? Because if so that's a very easy fix...but if it's because the mounting brackets are different and require some fab, then that's different.
