I have a 99 wide glide I bought used. I pulled the air cleaner off and was wondering if I have a stage 1 kit? The back plate is contoured and has a k&n filter. What does the factory plate look like? Thanks.
Wideglide,
The stock 88 mounts the aircleaner in a black plastic tub. The back of the chrome aircleaner cover fits into a flange all the way around. The stock aircleaner is flat on the bottom and a half circle on top. The Screamin'Eagle aircleaner removes that black tub and replaces it with what looks to be a cast aluminum back plate. The new filter element is round (K&N makes these also) and the chrome cover bolts on top but the back is completely open. The back edge of the chrome cover will touch nothing if you have a high flow aircleaner. I tried to download pics but I am new to this so I have to figure it out. Hope this helped, RR
