Hey, my 91 fxr superglide has a hard time starting after sitting for 4 or 5 days, due to wet plugs. I usually run the batttery down and re charge it.,before it starts. i have to pull the enrichner all the way out for a start.
I installed new plugs, without solving the problem. Day to day starting if fine. perhaps someone can find a a cure. thanks. Little Joe
Have you looked at the plugs before starting it? And it may simply be time for a new battery. Might have a load test done on the battery. Something else would be the starter motor. If it is pulling the voltage too low from a battery that isn't holding a charge over several idle days, the electronics won't like it.
Try this before yanking the battery. Disconnect the negative battery lead. Fully charge it and read the actual battery voltage with a meter. Let it sit for your 4 - 5 day period, then read the battery again. If it has dropped significantly, get a new one. If it hasn't dropped, repeat the test with the battery reconnected. If you have an ammeter that'll read in the milliamp range, you could connect it in the negative lead. If it shows current flow, you've got something that is bleeding the battery down.
