It's possible I may go back and trim it up a bit, and do something with a drill bit, but prefer the polish to paint, most of my projects are the result of, cheap, lazy, and function, order very's.

A prettier heat shield could be made from a stainless mandrel bend of suitable size and radius, simply split it in half length wise and attach with the same mounting points.
Like this one for instance:
