Default SE pro or SE...what is the difference?

Greetings...Dick Savage from Keystone, SD here...future 06 Electra Classic owner...on order for Jan 06 delivery
Been viewing this forum for months...information is priceless...promise I won't ask any oil questions...
Considering adding SE exhaust and Air Cleaner and TFI (in place of remap) after I know "stock" bagger is working well...since I don't plan any other performace upgrades benefit of remap is limited and the TFI will allow me to covert back to stock at any time with a simple remove and replace effort I can do myself.
While at the dealer the other day, I thought I would use my new found knowledge on Stage 1 to assess the dealer...find out what he would tell me about what was "requried" to add SE slip ons and later the SE Air Cleaner. Also wanted to see what he had to say about using the SE 95-05 non catalyst slip on instead of the SE 06 catalyst slip on. Since there we no sensors involved (yet)...I couldn't see that it would make a difference of using either...other than saving $40.
Dealer confirmed that the caytalyst is only in the right muffler (showed me) and it was nothing more than a metal screen of specialized metal that when heated, helped reduce emissions He further showed me there was no external physical difference between the two and the 95-05 non catalyst could be used on the 06 and by doing so save me $40...
OK so far, then he threw the wrench into the works...he said they would use the SE Pro Pipes and the SE Pro Air Cleaner with a remap for a Stage I upgrade. The part numbers for the SE Pro equipment (65115-98B muffler and 29440-99C air cleaner) are different than the SE equipment (65259-00 muffler and 29773-02B air cleaner). The "Pro" equipment according to HD site is "not street legal". When I asked the dealer about the physical difference between the SE Pro and SE muffler and Air Cleaner he got really vague in his answers.
So I thought someone might be able to tell me the actual physical/performace difference between the two or point me in the direction of who might be able to tell me.
For what it is worth, the SE pro muffers are actually $10 less than the SE mufflers, the air cleaner kit is the same price and the SE pro's have the same style options of end caps, but they are a different numbers, but the same price...and all this information applies to all other HD cycle models also.
Certianly this post will result in a lot of opinons on the possibe difference...I'm looking for the facts, or someone you all might know who can give me the straight word on the difference...such as less "stuffing" (sorry, couldn't resist given the holiday) in the Pro muffler...larger opening in the Air Cleaner...etc.

Cheers

Dick Savage

The only difference between the air cleaner kits is one has a C.A.R.B. sticker in the box and the other one does not. The SE Pro muffler is a little louder than the touring muffler and is better for performance as long as it is tuned properly.

My dealership told me that the SE Pro's would be a good exhaust. They recommened the Race Tuner, but said it wasn't completely neccessary at this point. But the Stage I was needed. I too have a new 06 and am looking into pipes.

I had the Stage 1 A/C, ecm download and the SE mufflers installed on my Springer Classic before I picked it up at the dealership. The SE's look good but they are soooooooo quiet and the baffles are welded in so you really can't do anything with them. I finally talked to the mechanic and he said the SE pros would be the way to go as they would work fine with the ecm download and he also said that if they still weren't loud enough that the Mikuni baffle p/n 100-7857 would fit, also without having to worry about the download. I did get the mufflers and they sound great, My gas mileage has stayed at 47-48 mpg-no change at all. The part # of my mufflers is 65116-98A and I think the only difference between them and the 98B's are the mounting points.
