Need some help here guys. I just bought a new 08 Fatboy yesterday and I'mgoing to have pipes put on it next week. What pipes do you think would be better Rinehart or Vance & Hines big shots? I'm looking for the the best sound and looks of course.
Vance and Hines big shots staggered on my 07 fatty- with that said, I have read on the forum here that the D&D fat cats are a good choice and they add good power and torque 3-4 hp on a stage I if I remember correctly.
So- in hind sight would have gone with the fatcats myself, and still might switch to those.
I went with Vance and Hines big shots staggered- with that said, I have heard god things about D&D Fat Cats, and a dyno sheet that showed 3-4 hp and increased torque in that range as well on a stage I bike
Another option, check out Bassani Exhaust. www.bassanipipes.com . They have a softail pro street pipe in straight or slash cut ( I suggest with heat shields). I owned a Harley repair shop for 4 years and we dyno'd alot of bikes/pipes. The best performance is a 3 step, (1 7/8" to 2" to 2 1/4"). They have a good deep throaty sound. No doubt you have to like the looks also. Not to say the V & H or D& D arebad pipes, I had V & H Straight shots on my softail and they performed well.Long shots or long pipes will rob 3-5 hp. Good luck!
