I have a 2005 Ultra with the SERT, K&N, and Samson Rolled Thunder ovals. After putting close to 5000 miles on the bike before it was dyno'd (no one took the opportunity to tell me that had to be done after 1000 miles on the bike -- I just complained about the excessive heat and decel popping) I had it dyno'd by the dealer where I continue taking it on the pre-paid maintenance program. I now have 25,000 miles on it, but am thinking that it is again running extremely hot and I've got decel popping going on again. I also have a backfire "pop" when shifting from 1st to 2nd and/or 2nd to 3rd, as well as a "cough" or "psh" on letting the clutch out from the start. This last symptom is only on occasion, and generally when the engine is warm/hot.
Is there a chance that the bike needs to be re-mapped or re-downloaded with the SERT? Does the setting ever go bad? Suggestions please. Bike is going in on Saturday for the 25,000 maint., and I'd like to get it all done at the same time.
Sounds like you could use a little maintanance on your bike, Clean or replace the aircleaner, sparkplugs oil cables to throttle etc. Get a manual and read the basic maintenance section an make sure that you do have a good tune.
Thanks -- but with the 2500 mile maintenance schedule I'm following, I think there is something else that needs to be addressed. But thanks for the suggestion.
