Default andrews 26 and HQ0034

What do you guys think of these cams? what one would you recommend for a bagger, which one would be better for later mods such as increased compression, probably no more than 9.5 to 1, big bore kit, port heads, What are the differences between the 2, what ones do you guys prefer

I think most people will agree that the HQ 0034 will handle mods alittle better.
and will have a slightly broader power band.

The Andrews 26 dose offer great torque, but fades fast after 3200 rpm or so.

The 26's are great bolt-in's. They are designed to work with stock heads & @ stock compression and the work very well ~ when used as intended.

The 0034's will prove to be much better if you do go with heads & increased compression.

I have used both many times.

Actually these cams are almost identical. The intake closes at 35 abdc on the 26 and the HQ0034 closes at 36. Both of these will start to make good torque around 2300 rpm. The lift is the same and the only real difference is the amount of overlap. The 26 has 20 degrees and the 0034 has 39 degrees. What it boils down to is the 26 should get slighly better mileage since the overlap is less and if you ride at low rpm a lot you will have less reversion.

Say what?

The 26's lift is .490, the 34's lift is .500.

I like my 26's. They pull great on the bottom and in the midrange. However, they run out of steam after 5k.

I stand corrected, but in my defence, .010" difference is just barely larger than a RCH!![sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]
