Default Hard starting 88" evo

Hello, i have a '99 Heritage with a 88" evo motor. It has facotry carb i believe. When i got the bike it started right up no problem(1 year ago)i had to give it maybe one pump of fuel to start. now i have to give alot of fuel to make it start, and help keep it running for about 30 sec, even with the choke on. Temps are around 60 degrees outside. Once i get it running it spits and spudders for a few miles then everything is fun. and it starts right back up no prob once its warm. Any help? Thanks , Kodi

My thoughts would be that the pilot jet may need to be increased in size, and now it is cooler in your area (60?), it has shown up. I'll bet that the pipes have been changed also?

Yes i have changed my pipes from a baffled 2-1 to drag style. what is a normal increase for this pilot jet for drag pipes? thanks , Kodi

Do yourself a favor and put those 2-1's back on. You just killed all your low end torque with drag pipes! Tuning the bottom end with drag pipes is nothing but a drag. You will need to change the needle as well would be my guess. If you don't know if the carb is stock or not then you might want to find someone who is proficient at tuning because it's never an easy fix as all engines are different, even when stock but especially with drags.
