Default Getting it started

Guys I have a 96 ultra classic and lately its doing some strange stuff.
1. When I crank it seems to be running on one side only at first.Checked my plugs and wires everything seems to be ok plugs look a little black. I have a cam and it's cold blooded but never did this before some back firing until it's warmed up this bike only has 33,000 miles on it sat for a few years until I bought it last year.
2.Clutch started slipping and going to adjust it but a guy told me to take all 5 bolts on the plates? and loosen them and let the plates release then tighten them back before doing any adjusting is this ok?

Any help on what to look for great.
