Default Noise from SE easy install push rods?

When I was picking up my bike from the dealer a guy who works there (I don't know what he does) comes up to me &asks why I went with the SE adjustable push rods. He suggested that there is a clearance issue & they rub or bang on the inside of the push rodcover tubes. Have any of you heard of this issue. If it is an issue I would be taking the bike straight back & they can make it right onthier nickle, as they did not tell me of this possible issue, infact they recommended these push rods.

the SE ones come with larger pushrod covers to prevent them from making noise as they are a little fatter than other ones but havent heard of anyone having problems with the larger pushrod tubes that they come with. I really doubt you will have a problem. hth Todd

We have custom made push rods for that very reason. In fact it is very common for the SE pushrods to hit the tubes. You can trim the tube , and in some cases that will fix the problem. Another reason they can hit is the abilty for that style of push rods to flex, another reason why we will not install them in a engine. Those are parts the customer gets back in the box of used items. If you do a search on this you will see that it has been a issue. If you pull the P/R out you will see where it is hitting as it will polish the rod in that area.

Bore your pushrod tube out to .610 and the S/E pushrods will not rub on the inside of them.

It only takes a few min. on a lathe.

It can be an issue, but is not an issue on every install. As HD Wrench says, it is visible if they are rubbing. If you have what sounds like lifter noise, and you adjust and adjust and can't get rid of it the next think to check is for the rubbing, it can creat a lot of clatter. I will bet there have been those that have replaced lifters due to this problem.

If the engine top end is quiet, dont worry about it.

At this point I don't have any noise, but I have not been riding it since the work was done, as it's below freezing. Once the engine gets compelte;y warmed up b\perhaps this could be an issue?

I think if you were going to have a noise, from rubbing, you would have had it right away, so if it isnt making noise now I dont think I would worry about it. Todd PS it is probably more of an issue with higher lift cams
