Default Glowing head pipe ?

I've been reading alot of post on the glowing head pipe issue and someone mentioned the after market pipes aren't as thick as stock pipes and that could be some of the reason the problem is more noticeable when we change pipes . Since chrome retains heat I was wondering if the guys putting black exhaust on their bikes notice this glowing problem ?

The black exhaust you buy from V&H and others they only coat they heat sheilds So you will still see glowing pipes unless you tune it in to run richer. The 07/08 run real lean

I never thought about just the heat shields be coated and I'm trying to get V&H to send me some different settings to help with the lean condition but so far no luck . I'll probably end up ordering a pcIII next week and be done with it .

All rejetted and tuned...Damn that plug was a POS to get out...Soft aluminum instead of plastic (rumored). But, easy as hell for a n00blet like myself. Only broke the threaded choke sleeve that attaches next to horn bracket. Oh well, what's another $13?
