Hello HD, I have commited to this already and would like to hear your thoughts (good or bad) about my choices. I have an 03 ultra with rineharts and a screaming eagle air filter and power comander, that netted me 71rwhp. Now I have a 95" with HTCC heads,10.5to1 forged pistons,s&s 585 gear drive, adj push rods,hd cyl studs. I have to put some miles on it then its back to the dyno, dealer said I should see close to ,if not 100/100 on this set up ,do you agree? Also would I be better off with a race tunner to tune each cyl verses the power commander that will not do that. The bike is 2 up, driven most of the time, Thanks in advance, Stock Sucks.
I think you should easily top 100/100 to about 104/110. i am doing 83/100 without headwork or higher compression pistons but just with 95, tw37 andrews gear drive cams and sert. You definitely want to go sert and please use gear drive cams. a friend of mine just did what you are doing but on a 103 se and he gets 115/125.
I'm running those cams in a HDWrench 98 kit, 10.5:1, CV44, V&HPP, rollers, etc and I'm making 106/114. A docile driver that runs hard when you whack it.
Well b4 I decided to do all this motor work I went on a ride with a friend who has a injected road king with se heads (not the htcc) not sure what cams but they are not gear drive, he said that was the one thing he said he did not have.He did have a power commander but now has a race tunner and said it made a big difference in the bottom rpm range, oh and he has rineharts also, I am pretty sure we have the same compression ratio 10.5 to1 , b4 I started this I was told the htcc heads are the **** compared to the regular se heads. The day we all went on that group ride I did not no what if any motor work he had, but I could deffinitlly tell by watching his wrist that it was not stock, there was no wacking at all with his setup, it just went from dead stop to redline. So that made up my mind to upgrade to a 95, he said with a rider it will pull the front wheel, I believe that also, Now with the cold weather here I have only basically went for a short putt , keeping the rpm below 3 grand untill I get some miles for breakin it just seems to not have the throttle responce, comparred to his bike. did I pick the wrong heads, cams? or just a matter of pitching the power commander?
Forgot to add the service writer at the dealer recomended the 585s so I went with them. I explained that I want all the torque I can get, don't really care to much about max hp, just trying to get this thing to go down the road like the road king I road with, I am trying to get ahold of him to find out what cam he has, could the sert be what I am missing to complete this set up I am searching for ??
