Am wanting to install Woods 6 cam & do some head work on my 07 Fatboy, have SE airfilter, SERT & have modified the SE exhaust to be more freeflowing. Will soon be installing a Bassani Pro Street exhaust.
Can you folk tell me what compression I will need to have to suit this work.
Also what areas of head work would work best for this combo.
I am in Australia and our guys who do this stuff are not up to the same standard as yours, so any advice and tips, requirements that I can pass on to the fellows who will be flowing the heads would be greatly appreciated.
what size pistons ya have???
target ratio is 9.6-10.2
not a porter by any means so here goes
cc the heads
slightly larger valves
good clean up port job
the pros should chime in shortly be patient they will help out with the porting.the comp i posted is god.
what is your fuel octane rating over there?
I think you guys do fine work! V8 super cars and the like!
If you dont have a guy you can put 100% confidence in, Try calling Doug and Head-Quarters in Canada! or one of our fine US porters like R&R cycles.
If you ride mostly 1 up, and want some *****, I would set it up at 11.0 to 1 with the gas you have and run a Woods #9 cam or the HQ 0033 cam and hold the f**k on to your bars!
I almost forgot, are you intersted in a big bore kit too? you could see around 120+ lbs of SAE torque with a 103ci and good heads and cams.
For the Woods 6 to work, you'll want to be right around 10-1 or a little higher.
Have your heads ported/polished, cc'd and milled for 10-1, install a 1.9" intake valve, and you might as well put in compression releases while it's apart.
Check out www.bigboyzheadporting.com , Bean will take care of you at a good price that won't break the bank like some others.
Thanks for your help, wish it was as easy as contacting Bigboyz, Hillside, GMR, R&R or another of the very skilled professionals that you have at your doorstepbut dude I am a little far away for that ( Australia ). Hence why I am asking you guys who have already gone down the true and tested ways for your advice as to what works and what wont.
Mentor,
Yes, have considered 103 or 107 kits but for now wishing to go down this path, from what I have read on this site there are still good gains to be made from cam & head improvements. This may be all I need to quench my thirst, I will try and if not then I can always do the 103 or 107 next.
Can someone give me some more info on the Woods 9 cam that Mentor mentioned, is it also a bolt in cam, would it bettersuit my needs ?.
