Default Muffler Question

To All,

2005 Utra

SE Pro 2 into 1 #80400-01
SE Pro Performance with end caps #65115-98B
SE Pro One Piece Performance #64903-99

Anybody running any of these?
What about the sound?
How about performance and loss or gain of lowend grunt?
If you ran any of them and changed, why?
Want performance and of course a good sounding pipe through the whole rpm range.

Thanks for all opinions and comments,
mag

I had the 64903-99 on my 05 EG Classic, I had them installed along with the SE Air filter and the canned map right at delivery time. They are louder than stock, to me I couldn't feel by the seat of the pants the difference between the Stage 1 and mufflers and the stock rental bike I road. The 64903-99 has a kind of tinny rap when you twist the wick, they get a touch louder as you pile on the miles. If left stock they are not real bad, if you put these on a set of V&H dresser duals you migh not be a happy camper. I had these on a set of V&H dresser duals and couldn't stand them, the noise output about doubled from what it was.

I now have the 65115-98B on my 06 Ultra, I have them along with the SE air filter and the bike has been mapped with the SERT. They don't seem to have the tinny rap that the 64903-99 mufflers had, I'm very happy with the sound. I can't tell by the seat of the pants any difference between this setup and a stock bike also. I think the only way you can tell is by putting the bikes on a dyno and getting a HP and Torque reading. There are folks that claim they feel the difference, I'm not one of them. I sometimes wonder if they think they feel the difference because the bike is barking with much more authority with the SE mufflers vs stock mufflers. I base this on a car with headers screaming its guts out, sure seems like your going fast until you put it on the 1/4 mile and find out it isn't quite as fast as you thought it was.

I had the 1 piece setup and loved the sound of them. The 2 piece setup will sound different depending on what endcaps you go with. Each different cap set has a different sound. The reason they got louder with a true dual setup is because on the stock headpipes most of the sound is coming from one pipe which will in turn cutdown on the sound compared to 2 open pipes.

The reason I changed out was from the fact that I REALLY love the look of the V&H's Ovals, now gotta install them and only hope they sound as good as the 1 piece or better. Plus I'm going with True Duals because I hated the sound dominating out of only 1 side of the stock exhaust setup.

I don't think you can go wrong with the 1 piece as far as sound or quality.
