Default cam gears on a 88ci rkc

I have a 06 road king custom 88ci and the motor is noisey witch seems to be normal for these twin cams ,tickin louder at higher rpm . only 1900 miles
my question is , has any one installed cam gears ,replacing the chain and tesioner and if so has it made the motor quieter??? at best ,by reading forums ,if there isnt an acutal problem , the chain and tensioner will make that noise

Well first off I think i would be inspecting the chain drive set up yopu have now. Milage means nothing at all as far as tensioner wear. As well a gear drive cam that is installed on a crank that has too much run out will only make more noise. First thing you need to do is inspect it and while you are there check pinion runout on the crank. Then you can move forward .

roller lifters are inherently noisy so even quiet gears may leave the engine noisy.

changed to gear drive on 06 rkc.Noise about the same but it differant noise.Ive been wondering why there so many people on here concerned about some engine noise. Its mechanical lots of parts some will have little noise the trick is no to worry unless a new one pops up.
