Have an 06 FXDC and bought her with V&H big shots staggered attached, problem is air kit nor fuel pak was changed when pipes were fitted and from reading through some of the threads am a bit concerned that rear cylinder might be running lean....havent noticed any problems myself to be honest.
Are there any tell-tale signs? As i dont want to spend £500 fitting gear i might not need
I am not 100% sure, could the dealer have upgraded the ECI map. Thats what the SERT is right? No additional componets but a downloaded map to the existing computer. If this is the case and I am close, the only way to tell is to go to the dealer and have them tell you what is loaded.
I have those pipes and if running lean you will hear it. It will crackle and pop to no end. I am no expert but others with way more knowledge than me will hopefully pipe in (no pun intended). I would insure the proper map has been downloaded to the ECM by dealer. I also would have the air opened up to let the engine breath and run cooler. I live in warma climate and that is needed if anything is changed from stock.
Rang them yesterday, and was assured map would have been downloaded, and i've never had any symptoms of running lean.
Would say the engine runs no hotter than the air cooled Triumph i had previously, but think iwill go ahead and get the air kit done at least.
Noticed yesterday that the clutch casing got quite hot whilst stuck in traffic, will have a nosy thru the forums see if i can find anything relating to that.
