Thunder headers

Has anybody put thunder headers on a old shovel head with the FL foward controls? If so did you need to make a special bracket?
Mine is a 76 shovel FXE but someone switched to the forward rear brake controls.

I had a dealer talk to the owner, it won't work with that set up. They also won't recommend a adapter because of factory liability.
