I will eventually be going 113. I have this mental block about going back to the stone age with base gaskets as opposed to O rings. Are these base gaskets leak proof or do they seap after a while. Almost convinced myself they are fine because if a head gasket works the base should as well, but still read about the odd one that leaks.

My cylenders from Axtell came with a base gasket. Cometic steel for, I believe, an Evo. The instructions said to use them and the "O" ring both. Called and asked (annal) and they said use both.
Thing you will have to watch is Deck Height. But it will only be about 0.010", or a little more.
I would use both, if you can, for a Harley 113 or any if I had it down that far. Insurance.
Will very, very slightly raise the deck which could help valve clearances. I would be sure and use a Cometic or James 0.030 in head gasket.

Used the HD MLS base gaskets on my 120. HD instructions were very clear - do not use the o-rings on the cylinder or oil returns. I followed the instructions and have 18k on the build with no leaks.
