I have a 2007 110cc Screaming Eagle Ultra Classic Electric Glide. I have been having issues with the bike, but every time I brought the bike into the shop no one could hear the noises I was hearing. Two weeks ago I took the bike into the shop and now they tell me they can hear the noise I have been hearing for almost 3 years. It seems the crank had bent and the flywheel has been hitting the side of the crankshaft. Lucky for me it is under warranty, but the mechanics have advised a Timken upgrade in the bearings as well as welding the crank to avoid any type of movement that could cause issues in the future.
Has anyone else had issues with the new 110 engines that require a complete rebuild?
Thanks,
DE
Should be interesting if HD USA will allow you to put in the Timken or weld the crank. When I had my bike upgraded to 110 a few months ago, the dealer phoned HD Canada about putting in the timken and possibly welding the crank as per my request. After all the cases were apart so it seemed a good idea. NOT . HD said to have my warranty validated to carry through the whole period (5 yrs for me) only the stock 110 parts could be installed. So I figure if it blows up its their problem.

I specifically asked the service manager about the Timken Bearing and weld job if it would void my warranty and he told me no it would not. They recommended the bearings etc to avoid this issue ever happening again. However, I have to pay for the Timken bearing, sleeve and weld for approx. $400. You would think HD would make good on their product and not charge me anything. Oh well at this point all I want is my bike back so I can hit the roads again.
we do the timken conversion ANY time the cases are split, big motor or stock rebuild.HD never should have changed that(alot cheaper for them, but not a good idea at all)
Will this keep the flywheels from what they desribed as scissoring (sp?) to keep the crank from bending?
I have heard that HD used to put in the Timkin bearing but tried to cut costs and put in a bearing with plastic. You would think going with a larger engine with more HP and TQ they would have thought about bringing back the Timken, especially for the price they ask us to pay for the CVO bikes. If you pay top dollar for what is to be a top bike, you shouldn't be having issues with the engine right after you purchase it.
