Default Cam swap tool list

I am planning on doing the 07 cam upgrade to my 03 FXDWG and I am trying to get a list together of the special tools needed to do the job.

What tools are actually needed? What tools can I get by without having and how? What are the tricks?

I am about to start ordering parts, but would like to know how much more $$ to put into the budget for tools. I have a very large selection of hand tools...I just dont have tools specifically for HD's

Thanks in advance

Chad

I've got one of those. I was refering more towards HD or Twin cam specific stuff.

Just did this a few weeks ago. Picked up a blind hole puller off Ebay for $25. You can borrow them from Autozone etc. Pull out inner bearings, freeze new ones. Put on end of old cam and tap in. Piece of cake. Everything else can be done with everyday tools.

Its nice to have the gear lock and oil pump alignment pins but you can get by without both. The 07's are a piece of cake to put cams in.

Since you're doing the roller chain conversion, all you have to do is pull out the entire plate with the cams and tensioners all attached. Then change out the inner bearings with new Timken inner bearings. You can use the blind hole puller as mentioned and a bearing tap to install. There is also a guy that sells a nifty bearing remover/installer combo tool for $85 plus shipping (you'll have it for the next time if you need it). Other than that, as Dalton stated installing the new style cams are easy.
